Polyurethane (PU) - Foam types

are among the most versatile and widely used foam materials. They are characterized by their elastic, cushioning and comfortable properties and are used in numerous industries - from the furniture industry and automotive engineering to packaging and medical technology solutions.

Properties and Advantages
PU flexible foams offer a compelling combination of flexibility, dimensional stability and high adaptability. They provide excellent pressure distribution and resilience, making them particularly well-suited for comfort-oriented applications.

Among its most important properties are:

  • High elasticity and durability
  • Good air permeability and breathability
  • Lightweight yet highly stable
  • Customizable degrees of firmness and densities
  • Excellent sound-insulating and shock-absorbing properties

Thanks to their versatility, they offer optimal solutions for industrial applications. Depending on the application, the density, compression hardness, pore structure and other properties can be precisely defined. At HP FOAM we manufacture custom-cut sheets, moulded parts and special finishes to meet your specific requirements.
The flexible polyurethane foams used at HP FOAM are produced in compliance with current environmental standards. Durability and material efficiency help conserve resources and enable sustainable solutions. High-quality quality assurance processes ensure consistent product properties and high reliability.

PU Filter Foam types

open-cell polyurethane foams used as filter media for air, liquids or gases

The open-cell structure allows particles, dust, or droplets to be retained while air or liquid can flow through.

Properties:

  • Open-cell structure → high permeability with good filtration performance
  • High compressive elasticity, dimensional stability → can be compressed multiple times
  • Chemical resistance → resistant to oil, water and many solvents
  • Temperature resistance → typically up to 80 - 120 °C
  • Easy to clean → washable, reusable
  • Lightweight and flexible
Application examples:
  • Air filters: Air conditioning systems, engine air filters, ventilation systems
  • Liquid filters: Oil, water, or fuel filters
  • Dust and particle filters: Industry, workshops, vacuum cleaners
  • Sound attenuation: Combination of filtration and sound absorption
  • Medical devices: Air or liquid filtration
